Reference - Particles by Nothing But Thieves
My version of Particles - I don't think this works for my voice so I'm changing it to Anything by Catfish and the Bottlemen
Session 1 - 12/09/18

What do you hope to achieve today?

In this first session, I hope to sort out a piano arrangement for Particles by Nothing But Thieves and see how well the song suits my voice - if not, I will change it to something else.

What went well in this session and why?

I managed to learn the chords for it on piano and play through the song fully which was good as it means I can now move on to another song.

What went wrong and why?

However, I couldn't belt out some of the higher notes in the bridge since I've never belted out notes that high. I also couldn't play through the song smoothly because I only just learned it.

What are your targets for your next rehearsal?

For the next rehearsal, I want to sort out an arrangement for Liability by Lorde because I think that would suit my voice better than Particles does.

I also want to see if I'd be able to play this song if I either dropped the key or just lowered my voice by an octave for the bridge.

Session 2 - 07/10/18

What do you hope to achieve today?

In this session, I want to decide which songs I'm definitely doing and learn the guitar part for Fast Car by Tracy Chapman so I can sing it with accompaniment.

What went well in this session and why?

I managed to decide on the songs that I'm definitely doing - Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, Anything by Catfish and the Bottlemen, Where Is My Mind? by the Pixies and Girls/Girls/Boys (with Tia). I also learned the guitar part for Fast Car so now I can move onto learning the lyrics.

What went wrong and why?

However, I couldn't sing along to Fast Car because I haven't learned the lyrics so I have to spend more time sorting it out. I had to drop a different song I was working on as well (Liability) so that I wouldn't be overwhelmed by the amount of songs I was doing.

What are your targets for your next rehearsal?

For the next session, I want to learn the lyrics for Fast Car, practice Anything and Where Is My Mind, and practice Girls/Girls/Boys with Tia.

Session 3 - 12/11/18

What do you hope to achieve today?

Today I want to practice Where Is My Mind? and Anything - I want to go over the chords and lyrics for both to make sure I still remember them.

I also want to practice Girls/Girls/Boys with Tia to sort out the vocals (who's doing verses and who's doing the pre-chorus/choruses etc)

What went well in this session and why?

I know all the lyrics for Where Is My Mind? and Anything so now I can work on the technical parts - I can sort out dynamics and strumming styles to make them more interesting.

Tia and I decided on who's

Evaluation

What went well and did you enjoy it?

I remembered all the lyrics to both Anything and Where Is My Mind - I think this could be because there was less to learn since I dropped Fast Car and Girls/Girls/Boys so I felt more confident in what I was doing, unlike in Eagles Go Gaga where I had to learn 8 songs so it was harder to remember everything for each song. I enjoyed it because I feel more comfortable performing and I knew what I was doing.

What went wrong and could it have been prevented?

I got a chord change wrong in Where Is My Mind which could've been prevented if I had one more session planned to practice it. I also don't think my stage presence was as good as in previous projects because I was performing on my own - this could've been prevented by just having more confidence on stage or even just forcing a smile while performing.
