Unit 5 - Evaluation
Production Evaluation
My roles:

Finance

I think that this role was effective because the planned budget helped to give a guideline of how much everyone could spend on things like sweets, popcorn, crisps and drinks. However, it was hard to track expenses because the communication between me, Catering and Front of House wasn’t great; I asked for a price list from Catering to help calculate the expenses from the night and so I knew where the money was coming from but they gave it to Front of House without telling me and forgot to get it from them. To rectify this for the next gig, I’ll make sure to constantly communicate and remind the teams that I must get information from. Despite this, we still made a profit of £199.20 from the production so I think that we did well even with the communication issues.
Stage Design
I think that I was very effective in this role as the stage plan that I gave to the technicians (through Logistics) was very useful in getting all the equipment set up in the right places. However, I think that it would’ve been better if me and my partner for this role communicated more so he could’ve had more to do instead of me doing most of the work; I’d fix this by keeping in more regular contact with the people that I work with for a role.
The bass drum cover looked nice on set too – it made the set look less dull than it would’ve if we just used nothing/didn’t put anything on or around the stage. On the other hand, the drum cover was too small because I measured it wrong, so next time I’ll get someone to help with measuring out the circle so it’s more accurate and make sure that I’m measuring the same size bass drum as the one that would be used on the night.

Marketing and Promotion – Social Media

For my role in Marketing and Promotion, I oversaw the Facebook page and made sure that there were regular updates (one post a day) - I think that I did well in this role because there were a lot of post interactions, given that we had daily updates, and it helped to give people that were interested in coming an idea of what we would do but we didn’t show everything – this meant that we showed people enough to be interested but not enough to think that coming to the show would be pointless. Also, the event on Facebook gave us a rough idea of how many people were coming (or interested in coming) to the show. However, I think that I could’ve communicated better with the person in charge of the Instagram page (Erin) so we had similar posts, and so if people preferred one app over the other, we could link the pages together so they could just be redirected to the other platform. I also think that the post captions were interesting/not too repetitive.
