Unit 1
Eagles go gagA Evaluation
What have you learned from this project?
In this project, I've learned that stage presence affects the audience as a whole - your mood on stage will be mirrored by the audience, so if you look bored or annoyed on stage, the audience will also be bored by your performance.

I've also learned that it's important to practice songs at home as well; for the level we needed the songs to be when we performed them, we had to learn things at home to allow the session to be used to sort out any technical issues, such as timing issues or problems with the structure/chord progressions. It was also important to use the sessions to learn things like vocal harmonies so we could make sure they were in the same key as the song and to also know where any drop outs for the instruments were.

To work well as a band, you also need to communicate - if not, people could come in at the wrong place and completely throw the rest of the band off, meaning it would take everyone longer just to play through the song once and the band would then have less time to work on other songs (so they'd have to spend more time around the show sorting the other songs out).

Brian learned all of his parts before coming to the sessions so he didn't have to waste time learning it on the day and he was on time for every session and never missed any. However, sometimes he and Dane would start laughing during the middle of a session (like some of my band-mates for the Schools Roadshow) which was distracting.

Dane was very good at quickly learning parts and being able to play along with the rest of us so even if he didn't learn his parts before the session he wouldn't waste a lot of time learning it. However, he did end up laughing quite a lot during sessions so we'd have to wait for him to calm down to continue rehearsing.

Will - like Dane - was good at quickly learning his parts, including any drop-outs for the drums, but he often messed up with timings because he hadn't really listened to the songs prior to the sessions. Also, he was off for a few sessions which meant we had to practice without a drummer for that session and then add the drum parts in the week after. He was also late for a few sessions which wasn't a big problem since he usually came in while we were setting equipment up but it was a bit annoying.

Ross was on time for every session that he was in for (he was off for one of the earlier sessions) and he was helpful when it came to setting equipment up and deciding which songs he'd do and I'd do - or, if we were both doing a song, deciding which parts we'd do (so one of us would do the first verse and chorus and the other would do the second verse, for example). However, he often hadn't learned his lyrics before a session so he'd have to use lyric sheets during the session and would get confused with where we were in the song which meant it took longer than it should've to get through songs.
